Bjork's 'Biophilia', First App in MOMA's collection! by sarvin

Those who know me, are familiar with my passion with Bjork and her art. She has created a difference in Music industry, The Icelandic artists is known for being innovative. Her 2004 album "Medulla" was composed almost entirely from human voices, which were remixed into a myriad of sounds. On "Volta", she used touch-sensative instruments that predate the iPad. In 2011, she released the first ever App album called "Biophilia" which is a multimedia exploration of music, nature and technology comprising a suit of original music and interactive, educational artwokds and musical artifacts. Now "Biophilia" is the FIRST App in MOMA's collection! In a statement on the museum's website, Paola Antonelli - senior curator of the department of architecture and design - mentions "At that time, a year after the iPad had been introduced, designers and developers were excitedly experimenting with apps that took advantage of a screen bigger than the iPhone. With "Biphilia" however, Bjork truly innovated the way people experience music by letting them participate in performing and making the music and visuals rather than just listening passively'" For more information on "Biophilia", feel free to go through below links :-

Chicago Body Painter welcomes spring ... by sarvin

Robin B Gallery hosted one of the very first spring art exhibitions in Chicago, called Flower Power on April 17th.  Orlando Barsallo, one of the Emerging artists represented at Robin B Gallery compares his art form to ice sculptures " the ice sculpture eventually melts just like the model eventually has to wash off the body paint" he mentions. This group exhibit included some of my smaller works as well as my mom's beautiful artwork. Robin B Gallery is located at 1123 West Armitage, Chicago, IL. Below link is the interview by DNA Info Chicago's  Jackie Kostek with the artist :-

Shahyad Tower...our white tower of freedom.. by sarvin

DSC04301.jpg
This is one of the buildings that probably doesn't need introduction. Shayad tower is and will always be the symbol of Iran. I have a special bond to this tower as I grew up hearing the stories and seeing photos of how this beautiful tower was built and till this day, I find it so inspiring to see how much love and energy my dad put into this project when he was only in his 20's. Whenever I see Shahyad Tower in a movie, a photo or in a video clip, unconsciously I feel proud to know most of the amazing people who made their vision become the symbol of our country; my amazing dad, Iraj Haghighi alongside the inspiring Rouhollah Nikkhessal, Hossein Amanat, Manouchehr Iranpour and many many more. Your art will always be in the heart of Iran and Iranians. It's a shame to see how this stunning white tower is not being taken care of like it deserves.
Below interview is for all the Farsi speakers - sorry no English subtitles :
Also below are some photos of back when the tower was being built. You can see a young Iraj Haghighi on the site :) We are proud of you dad, everyday ...
